Essential Items for Long Road Trips This Winter

Although the items highlighted above are often enough to keep you safe while you wait for help to arrive, those who do a lot of winter driving and those who want to be prepared for anything would be wise to include a few extra things in their trunk:

• Tow strap: If you get stuck in a ditch, you may need to wait hours for a tow truck to arrive. Carrying a tow strap allows a wider range of vehicles to help you out of a bind, so you may be able to get moving again more quickly.
• Fire extinguisher: Even in the winter, you need to be prepared to put out fires! You’ll want to secure a fire extinguisher that’s appropriate for automotive use at our parts department.
• Long-lasting food and water: Granola bars and distilled water can last for up to six months before they need to be replaced. You’ll want to stock up on emergency rations, since hunger makes even small emergencies seem that much more stressful.
