Land Rover AdBlue® Diesel Exhaust Fluid

Diesel exhaust fluid additive for trucks

By using Land Rover AdBlue® Diesel Exhaust Fluid, you can reduce the amount of harmful emissions your diesel vehicle puts into the atmosphere. Land Rover AdBlue® DEF gets depleted as you drive, so you’ll need to know how to put diesel exhaust fluid in Range Rover SUVs. It’s easy to schedule service with Land Rover Englewood and let us take care of it for you, but you can also learn how to do it yourself below!

How Often Should You Refill with Land Rover AdBlue®?

Your Land Rover SUV will consume roughly one quart of diesel exhaust fluid every 500 miles. Keep in mind that your driving style can also have a significant impact on DEF consumption. By checking the message center on your dashboard display, you’ll be able to spot the indicator light that lets you know when it’s time to refill. Don’t ignore the warning! Make your way to a Land Rover service center or parts department near Jersey City or Fort Lee.

How to Put Diesel Exhaust Fluid in Range Rover SUVs

It’s easy to learn how to put diesel exhaust fluid in Range Rover SUVs, and our team wants to show you how it’s done. Just follow these steps:

  1. First, buy new AdBlue® DEF from our parts department. The rule of thumb is to buy two bottles. Make sure they’re labeled as ISO 22241 or DIN 70070. Check your owner’s manual to make sure that you’re purchasing the correct type.
  2. Open your hood and find your DEF reservoir. If you’re facing the windshield, the cap will be on the right hand side.
  3. Park your car on a level surface, turn the cap, and remove it.
  4. Take the bottle and insert the top into the reservoir opening. Turn it clockwise until it locks into place.
  5. Press down on the base of the bottle to drain the fluid into the tank. Wait until it has all drained. Then, turn the bottle counter-clockwise and remove it. Repeat these steps with your second bottle.
  6. In some cases, it may be prudent to visit our service center after topping off. To know whether you need to do so, check your current DEF range using your steering wheel-mounted controls. If it indicates that your vehicle needs more DEF, our team can check to see if you’re good to go.

The trickiest part of the process is performing a Land Rover AdBlue® reset. This is necessary If your DEF warning light won’t go off on its own, and if it happens you should let us reset your tracker manually. There isn’t anything unique about individual models in this respect, so Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Land Rover Discovery AdBlue® resets are all the same.
